In Flesh Songs, many of the stories recount our attempts to find grace in our lives, as we weigh up good and evil, as we struggle to live within our bodies, as we become wayward, or lost, or loved too hard or not enough. The stories do not shy from the friction of life, our errors and our wish for salvation, as they speak of both parenthood and childhood, mental illness, terrorism, racism, and our trysts with sensuality.
